Most couples start booking their London wedding band around 9 months in advance, but the most popular bands often get reserved much earlier. To secure your preferred band, it’s best to begin your search up to 18 months before your wedding, especially for summer weekend weddings in London.
If you're planning an off-season wedding (between October and March) or a weekday wedding, it should be fine to book your band 9 months in advance. Plus, planning an off-season wedding will also help you to save money on your wedding band.
London wedding bands range in price from around £900 for a 3-piece band, to almost £10,000 for a 9-piece show band with several vocalists, brass and percussion.
That said, the typical price paid for a band in 2025 was around the £1375 mark, and the most popular line-up was a 4-piece.
Bear in mind that your quote may be higher than the band's starting price listed on the website. The key factors affecting price are: the distance of your venue from the band's home location and demand (summer Saturdays are more expensive).
When you request a quote for a London wedding band, we’ll provide a detailed breakdown of all costs and inclusions. Our quotes typically cover everything you need for a seamless performance, from set-up and soundcheck to live performance, equipment, lighting, and travel:
London wedding bands come in a variety of line-ups, but most start as a 3-piece featuring a singer/guitarist, bass and drums — perfect for rock, pop and indie weddings. As you increase the number of musicians, you expand the band’s sound, allowing them to cover more genres and create a fuller, more dynamic live performance.
As more instruments are added, so too will the variety of genres the band can cover – larger line-ups adding keyboards and brass instruments can authentically reproduce soul, Motown and R&B covers, as well as rock and pop music.
Larger bands featuring both male and female vocalists will mean a larger vocal range and therefore increase the number of songs available to the band.
Line-ups is just one of the essential topics covered in our guide to the must-ask questions for your wedding band.
Our London wedding bands perform a wide range of popular music, covering rock, pop, soul and Motown classics that are perfect for filling the dancefloor and entertaining guests of all ages.
Other genres covered include: UK garage, dance, R&B, festival folk, and various vintage styles, from rock'n'roll to 70s funk and disco, 80s new wave and 90s Britpop.
If popular music isn't your bag, consider a wedding ceilidh band, a jazz band or a brass and drums fusion band.
From Bowie in Brixton and The Clash in Camden, to the Beatles in Abbey Road – London's popular music legacy is felt across the world and the obvious place to source a fantastic wedding band!

Yes, most London wedding bands are happy to take song requests and help personalise your playlist for the big day. The easiest way to get the best performance is to choose favourites from the band’s own setlist, but they’ll usually be glad to discuss special requests or songs you’d prefer to avoid.
While the band will always do their best to play your requests, they may need to switch things up based on audience reaction. Playing to the mood of the crowd on the night is the best way to ensure a full dance floor all night long.
For some playlist inspiration, check our round-up of party songs to fill your dancefloor.
Yes, many London wedding bands will happily learn and perform your first dance song live, provided the track suits their style and line-up. Most acts list whether they can learn a first dance on their profile, so you can easily check what’s included before booking.
Check the act’s profile to see if they offer this option and try to give plenty of notice for them to learn your request.
Alternatively, all of our bands can play your first dance on an mp3 or iPod through their PA system.
You don’t need to provide much for your London wedding band, as all our bands come fully equipped with their own sound and instruments. For larger events (with 200 or more guests) or bands over 3–4 members, it’s worth checking in advance, as extra equipment may be needed to ensure a seamless performance.
You just need to make sure that the band has a power source to plug into and a space to perform! We recommend a flat and sheltered stage area of at least 3x3 meters for a 3-piece band – then add an extra metre squared per band member that you have booked.
A raised stage is preferable for maximum impact, but our bands are flexible to all kinds of spaces!
Yes, all of our wedding bands are fully insured and have PAT tested equipment.
Our function bands in London typically arrive at your venue from 5pm or 6pm and take 60 - 90 minutes to unload, set up and soundcheck their equipment to ensure the best performance possible.
It’s ideal if a room can be cleared whilst they do this, but it’s not essential, they can perform a silent “line-check” to test their levels if not.
The band will then get dressed, eat and return at approximately 9pm to get your party started!
Many London wedding venues will have parking restrictions, loading bays and lifts. Let the band know in advance what the set-up is at your venue to avoid delays.
Most London wedding bands perform for around two hours, typically split into two one-hour sets with recorded interval music in between. Some bands can also offer three 40-minute sets, giving you flexibility to plan live music throughout your wedding or event.
All of our bands can provide recorded interval music free of charge between their sets, so the dancing never needs to stop.
It also means if your favourite song isn’t in the band’s repertoire you can still hear it.

Yes, many of our London wedding bands are fully able to perform outdoors, making them ideal for garden parties, marquee weddings and open-air receptions. To ensure a smooth performance, the band will simply need suitable cover from the weather and access to a safe power supply.
