Peter and I were married at Bittenham Springs in Gloucestershire. It's a beautiful outdoor venue and we put up a large tipi there.
I can't explain just how superb the 12th Street Swingers were - just amazing!
We had our ceremony and reception drinks outside by a lake, which is where the band played. They suited the atmosphere perfectly.
Our wedding had a rustic/countryside feel, with wild flowers and hay bales. We had loads of candles, lanterns and fairy lights – it felt rather like a small festival.
We wanted a Dixieland group, so looked at jazz bands on Function Central's site. I can't explain just how superb the 12th Street Swingers were – just amazing! Firstly, they turned up with loads of time to spare, which is always a relief when you have so much to think about on the day.
They looked just fantastic too! Such stylish outfits – for our country-style wedding they looked just the part! We were so proud to have them playing at our wedding, they not only sounded great but they looked fab too.
Their playing was just superb – such high quality, and so jolly – just perfect for a wedding to create a really warm, buzzing feel. They were also extremely professional and flexible, being on hand to play whenever and wherever we wanted, and sliding into the background when they weren't needed.
They also played the three songs we specifically requested perfectly. On top of all this, they were just so pleasant and lovely to deal with, and I think they really enjoyed the day too.
We had the 12th Street Swingers trio play during our ceremony and reception drinks, as we wanted dixie jazz/swing to create that relaxed, summer party atmosphere. It's also music which people of all ages can enjoy.
So all in all, the 12th Street Swingers created a 5* experience and they added so much to our day. We got so many compliments on how fantastic they were. I would recommend them highly to anyone who is looking for music during their wedding, as we were just delighted with them.
Later on we had a 12-piece swing band and they were also fabulous.
The most wonderful moment in the day was walking up the aisle to "As Time Goes By" played by the 12th Street Swingers!
Finally, my advice for couples getting married is to think about the type of atmosphere you want to create – the band will be hugely important for this!
Upbeat, Dixieland jazz band playing songs in the classic New Orleans style. Great for toe-tapping background music. Also available as a marching band line-up is available for parades and funerals.
