At Dan and Katie's music-filled wedding in Suffolk, the ushers played piano, the groom's father serenaded on guitar and The Fandangos had the guests dancing till the small hours.
We chose the The Granary Estates in Woodditton, Suffolk, as our wedding venue. It offers a great combination of impressive location with a rustic feel, great interior and exterior, and a warm, friendly atmosphere.
Everyone thought The Fandangos were amazing!
We chose to have a 'Travel' theme for the day – lots of map and aircraft decorations to blend in with the rustic nature of the venue.
For the day itself, we wanted to make it as fun and personal as possible, to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves throughout!
During our reception, we had a selection of our ushers and bridesmaids play piano, as we have a very musical group of friends and family. The groom's father wrote a special song which he performed on acoustic guitar at the end of the speeches.
For the evening we had The Fandangos as our wedding band. We found them through an online search for wedding bands in the East Midlands and Suffolk.
We listened to their preview tracks on Function Central's website - they sounded amazing from the start, backed up by the YouTube videos, and when we heard them we just knew they were the band we wanted (we're both suckers for a female lead vocalist too!)
To say that we were satisfied with The Fandangos would be the understatement of the year. They performed professionally and slickly, and gave a great personable touch to the performance.
They sounded great throughout, the levels and balance were great (no mean feat when performing in a barn). They threw in a nice surprise element which everyone loved, and the dance floor was full when they were playing - everyone thought they were amazing!
The actual wedding ceremony was incredible and the highlight of the day, it was so special to actually get married with your family and friends, and we really enjoyed the meal and speeches, it was great to take some time to just sit down and take everything in.
However it wasn't until The Fandangos came on that we felt like we could really relax and enjoy ourselves. By that point all the formalities of the day were done, and we could spend time dancing and enjoying ourselves with all our family and friends, which was aided no end by the great music and atmosphere from the band!
Our tips for couples organising a wedding would be to make sure you capture every little thing you think you like or may want. It isn't until you start putting your plans all together that you realise where your priorities are and what really matters to you, and you can change your plans and ideas to match this.
For the day itself, don't be afraid to delegate tasks to your wedding party. If you want to make sure something is done a specific way, write it down/make a list and give that to someone to do – trust us you won't have time to do anything yourself!
Venue - The Granary Estates
Everyone was incredibly helpful and enthusiastic throughout.
Photographer: Peter Denness
Along
with his assistant Hollie, they didn't stop working until everyone went
home at the end of the day, and he captured the most amazing photos of
us and the day as a whole.
Flowers - Leen at The Flower Boutique, Linton
Just perfect, complimenting both the outfits and the venue better than we could have hoped for.
Catering - The White Pheasant, Fordham
We had
incredible service throughout the day with amazing tasting food: from
the reception nibbles, delicious wedding breakfast, and the rewarding
evening snacks.
Decor - Elizabeth Hall Event Design
They provided some additional cosy seating and the cake stands, which finished off the venue brilliantly.
