We had a typical London wedding, with the ceremony at Islington Town Hall and a pub reception at The Prince Albert in Camden.
The Council Chamber at Islington Town Hall is a beautiful setting for the ceremony. The seating is arranged in a way that all your guests are quite close by, with no-one left craning their neck at the back of the room for a view.
We chose a pub for the reception as we wanted a relaxed, informal vibe and the Prince Albert is an amazing little place.
We loved all the small details in the venue decoration and the mix of quirky modern design with traditional pub features. The staff are also really easy going and friendly which gives the place a great atmosphere.
We had a bit of an eclectic look. There are already a lot of features at the venue so we just added a few touches like jam jars and bottles filled with flowers.
Our tables were themed on Wes Anderson films and included props and images from the films.
We wanted a live string group during the drinks reception following the ceremony, and we found The Onyx String Trio through an online search for classical groups in London.
Function Central had a good range of musical acts and the team got back to us quickly when we sent enquiries. They were really helpful.
The trio played a mixture of classical music and more modern classics like the Beatles and Elton John. We were absolutely delighted with them!
Our guests loved their performance and we were sad that we didn't get to see more of them as we arrived later to the venue.
We booked a DJ, Craig, from Function Central for post-dinner dancing.
DJ Craig was really friendly and open to a playlist - he even put up with my bridezilla demands for certain songs! He set up a booth and lighting rig which worked really well in the venue.
The day is all a bit of a blur! The ceremony was our favourite part of the day as it was a chance to take everything in.
The day's drinking, dancing and celebrating with family and friends made our day!
My advice to other brides is to take some time on the day to sit back and relax and try and take it all in - it's such a busy day with so much going on and so many people to talk to that it passes by so quickly!
