We chose Upwaltham Barns in the South Downs National Park because it is simply beautiful.

Nicola and Tim who own the venue are the most welcoming people and every time you speak to them you’re reminded that you’ve chosen the right place for such a significant day in your life.

As we were getting married in a barn setting, it just made sense that it should be a rustic theme. You could completely get away with not decorating at all – it’s all there for you, inside and out.

For wedding favours we wrapped up individual baby succulents and burned the guests’ names into small wooden tags. We also added in a little Disney magic with our table names and table plan.

The colour scheme was mulberry red, blush pink and white and this was introduced in the flowers, centrepieces and bridesmaids dresses. The bridal party were all fitted out with Converse so no achy dancing feet the next day!

We love going to gigs and a live pop/rock band was a must for us. We browsed wedding bands locally to us in Sussex and Rockit were top of the list.

We couldn’t have asked for anything more from Rockit. They are the nicest, chilled-out guys and they adapted to the last-minute change to performing in the courtyard rather than inside the barns.

They were professional yet friendly and their sets were spot on. If ever the occasion calls for it, we’ll book them again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much!

Seeing all our friends and family who we’ve not been able to see in so long. The band were what we were looking forward to most and they did not disappoint!

We spent a long time looking around the internet for bands and Function Central had a huge number of bands in the genre we wanted. This meant it took us even longer to pick one as there were so many great bands to choose from!

If you’re struggling to compare bands having not been able to see them in a live setting, use the song “Shut Up and Dance”. Nearly every band we looked at had that as a demo track 😂

Hair & make-up - Gemma Souter
She was so chilled and put me at ease. I never wear makeup or do anything with my hair other than straighten it so it was all a new experience for me!

Dress - Bleu Bridal
I wore an ex-sample dress. Sue was so knowledgeable and again made me feel so comfortable.

Alterations - Buttons and Bows Alterations
They turned my dress from a size 18 to a size 10! Shay is a magician as she didn’t measure me once.

Flowers - Forge Flowers
Jane made some beautiful arrangements for us. We gave her the colour scheme and left the rest up to her expertise.

Caterers - Nibbles2Nosh
They brought the entire day together and it was seamless. They, along with all our suppliers, were so supportive and adaptable when we postponed last year and everything was so easy.
