Katy and Andy held their wedding reception at The Oyster Shed in London Bridge – the incomparable Rockit were there to ensure the couple had the night of their lives (and notch up their 50th function of the year).
Andy and I chose the Oyster Shed for our venue. It's a lovely, airy, city pub on the Thames that we were able to book out for the whole day, just for our party.
We were going for a really relaxed and informal ambiance for our wedding day. We wanted as little "theme" as possible!
Andy and I were looking for an experienced company that we could rely on for taking care of our band. Our hunt for London wedding bands led us to Function Central's site, where we discovered Rockit.
I did not leave the dance floor for more than 5 minutes in the band's whole two sets, only because I needed a rest after dancing crazily in my massive dress!
We didn't have really strong feelings about exactly what tracks we wanted, only that we wanted some rock and roll from a mix of eras, and Rockit's song-list had this.
We also knew we wanted a professional and experienced band who could deliver without us having to leave our guests to assist with preparation.
After listening to some of Rockit's samples and reading reviews on their profile, we booked them.
Rockit were absolutely amazing! They remained professional at all times and I was so impressed with how Ryan, one of the band members, communicated with me beforehand to sort out details.
The band arrived on time and got themselves set up and packed down with the venue staff really quickly and with no bother.
I did not leave the dance floor for more than 5 minutes in the band's whole two sets, and even then this was only because I needed a rest after dancing crazily in my massive dress!
Rockit were really excellent musicians and played all the favourites, both modern songs that our friends danced to and some 60s classics that had the parents, aunts, and uncles on the floor.
They were really pleasant and fun people on stage as well.
I can't think of a way it could have been improved and I lost count of how many comments I got from guests about how good they were.
Three weeks later and I'm still getting compliments about the band; they really made the night for me.
One of our favourite moments of the day was when the band started their sound check by playing Arctic Monkeys and half the party (including me) made a mad dash for the dance floor as we thought they had started their set, only to be sadly turned away!
My advice for other brides and grooms is to simply hire
Rockit and then forget about it. Put your worry on the other hundreds of
things because they will do their job without question.
Also, there is
nothing wrong with a sweaty, mad, crazy dancing bride, as long as the
photographer has gone home!
Amp up your party with Rockit: a sensational party band with a huge catalogue of rock, indie and pop floor-fillers from Chuck Berry and The Beatles to Billie Eilish and Ed Sheeran.
