Richard & Karen got married at Orchardleigh House in Somerset, a magnificent Victorian stately home complete with its own island church. They booked Penfold, our coolest 4-piece in the South East, to get the evening party jumping.
We chose Orchardleigh House because it's close to our home and had the advantage of providing accommodation for our guests in the main house.
All of them were brilliant musicians, and got the right balance in terms of sound and style to get people dancing!
There's a beautiful church on an island within the grounds of Orchardleigh house...
...which meant we could have both the ceremony and reception in one place.
Our 'Midsummer’s Night' theme used raw materials: ivy, diced logs and pebbles, with butterflies and gemstones to add the magic.
We booked Penfold from Function Central, browsing for wedding bands available in the South West – their selection of bands is excellent, and the information about the style of music and location is clear. The snippets of their music that can be listened to on the web site really helped us to decide the acts in which we were interested.
In the run-up to the wedding the band were really accommodating and happy to play our first dance request.
From the moment they arrived on the day, they were friendly and engaging. They used an iPod during the intervals to keep the dancing going.
They even stayed later until midnight to play Happy Birthday for the bride!
All of them were brilliant musicians, and got the right balance in terms of sound and style to get people dancing and really enjoying the music.
The dance floor was packed throughout and it was a perfect way to finish our special day!
Afterwards so many people complemented us on how good Penfold were, and asked where we found them.
I would highly recommend the band – they were exactly what we had been looking for!
Fun, high energy party and wedding band with a frontman skilled at working a crowd and around eight hours' worth of danceable party anthems from all eras at their disposal.
