Our wedding venue was Holbrook House in Somerset. The venue is a beautiful country house, that has loads of charm and character. We loved it because it felt laid back and cosy with several open log fires.

Our guests were exhausted from all the dancing. Dangermouse were truly exceptional and we can't thank them enough for making our evening so memorable for everyone!

It also has several bedrooms so many of our close friends and family could stay over, which meant the day lasted well into the early hours!

The grounds are beautiful, although with an October wedding you can never guarantee that you will be able to enjoy them - but we were lucky and the sun shone all day.

We wanted a laid back, personal feel to our day - with as many friends and family involved in the church service as possible.

We love the vintage look so also tried to incorporate that into our day by using vintage suitcases, cake stands and flower vases - most of which were owned by our families.

In terms of a colour scheme, we went for a timeless cream and green theme, hoping this wouldn't date in the photos - plus these are the team colours of Chew Valley Rugby Club, where Gavin plays so this sold the idea to my husband!

We had a live pianist playing after the wedding breakfast and before the evening part of the day. We didn't have dessert or a wedding cake but asked several good friends to make a cake - which we displayed on vintage cake stands.

So while our guests enjoyed slices of homemade cake sat in front of the open fires in Holbrook House, the pianist played some fabulous background music.

We then upped the tempo for the evening with a Northamptonshire wedding band, Dangermouse - who were nothing short of brilliant! They were energetic and lively and ensured that the dance floor was packed all night.

We couldn't have asked for more from the band. They were energetic, lively, cool and just brilliant - not to mention pretty cute too!

They kicked off the evening with the Kaiser Chiefs and from that minute the dance floor was packed.

There was never a lull and our guests were exhausted from all the dancing. Dangermouse were truly exceptional and we can't thank them enough for making our evening so memorable for everyone.

Our best moment of the day was the service - we loved every minute of it.

We had lots of readings and a friend of ours doing a recital so the service felt very personal.

Our two children were also involved, walking down the aisle with us and the whole thing felt unbelievably special.

We discovered Dangermouse because a friend recommended them to us, and thank god she did, they were amazing!

The best advice I could give to anyone planning a wedding would be to book Dangermouse if you want a lively, cool, energetic band that know exactly how to get a party going - and keep it going!
