    Choosing a wedding band – 4 tips

    • Weddings are mixed generational events, so aim for a band which a broad range of genres and eras. Once that's sorted, consider the median age of guests at your event. If this is fairly low, you may want a band that leans more heavily to R&B and chart than 60s music, for instance.
    • Try and book a band based within 2.5 hours journey time from your venue location if at all possible – longer than that and many bands will need to charge for accommodation and overnight expenses, which can add hugely to costs.
    • Ideally, start your band search 12 months in advance of your event – 6 months at a minimum – as the most popular bands book up early.
    • Before you book, don't forget to check that your venue can accommodate live music or don't have noise restrictions in place.
